   Abdul Kader Alawwa, MD, FACC
                                     
                   


Dr. Abdul K. Alawwa was born in Damascus, Syria, where he attended his country's oldest and largest university, Damascus University of Medicine.  He graduated in 1983 and accepted a position as a Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine at Damascus University.  In 1986, Dr. Alawwa headed to the United States to perform research work at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  He soon became a resident of Ohio State University Hospital and in 1990 was offered a fellowship in Clinical Cardiology.  In 1993, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to accept a fellowship in interventional and clinical cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

In 1995, Dr. Alawwa went into private practice in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and soon after moved his practice to Minot, North Dakota, where he became the Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at the UniMed Center and Director of the Pacemaker and ICD Clinic at the Medical Arts Clinic.

In 1999, Dr. Alawwa and his family moved to Michigan to continue his private practice.  At present, he is practicing at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Genesys Regional Medical Center, Hurley Medical Center and Lapeer Regional Medical Center.  He has offices in Lapeer and Flint

Dr. Alawwa specializes in rhythm disorders of the heart.  The procedures he does for these problems include pacemaker and ICD implants as well as electrophysiology studies, radio frequency ablations and cadioversions.

Dr. Alawwa has received several board certifications including Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing.  Along with the prestigious certifications, Dr. Alawwa holds several medical society and hospital staff memberships.  he has also spent some time on the lecturing circuit and has been published in a variety of medical journals.

Dr. Alawwa currently resides in the Flushing, Michigan area with his wife and children.


                Wayne J Breece, MD   
Dr. Wayne Breece is a native Flint, Michigan.  He attended the University of Michigan from 1968 through 1971.  Upon graduation, he continued his medical education at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Lansing, Michigan, graduating in 1974.  In 1975 he accepted a surgical internship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he continued his studies until 1976.

In July, 1976, Dr. Breece moved back to his home state of Michigan to begin his surgical and internal medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.  After that, it was back to his hometown of Flint to begin his internal medicine residency at Hurley Regional Medical Center.  Dr. Breece then accepted a Cardiology fellowship in 1978 from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Breece is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Socieety of Nuclear Cardiology.  He has office hours at our Flint location. 

Dr. Breece is married and lives in the Flint area.  He has two children.

     David A Brill, MD, FACC


                
Dr. David A Brill is a native of New York City, New York.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Princeton University in 1979 and matriculated to Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  Graduating in 1983 with Special Distinctions and the Herbert J. Bartlestone Award in Pharmacology, he began his Internal Medicine internship at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.

Dr. Brill continued on with his residency at Yale and was offered his fist fellowship in 1986 from Yale University School of Medicine for Clinical Cardiology, Invasive and Noninvasive.  He then accepted his next fellowship in 1987 from the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, for Molecular Genetics.  Dr. Brill accepted his third fellowship from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for Emphasis on Cardiac Echo and Nuclear Cardiology in 1989.

Dr. Brill moved to Providence, Rhode Island, to begin his private practice of cardiology in October of 1989.  By 1992, he had become a partner at Cardiology Services.  In 1998, Dr. Brill was appointed Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Newport and also became a physician at University Foundation in Providence, Rhode Island, a Brown University physician practice.

In 2002, Dr. Brill and his family moved to Michigan to join Cardiology Consultants of East Michigan, where he continues his private practice at both the Lapeer and the Lake Orion locations.  Dr. Brill is affiliated with William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan, as well as the four local hospitals. Dr. Brill has received several board certifications, including the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Along with these prestigious certifications, Dr. Brill has held numerous academic and corporate appointments and belongs to several professional medical associations.

He currently resides in Clarkston, Michigan with his wife and children.

                 
     Jeffrey L Harris, DO,

Dr. Jeffrey Harris is a native of Tyrone, Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1973.  Dr. Harris is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, where he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1977.  Dr. Harris served his internship and residency in medicine at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital and performed a fellowship in cardiology.  Dr. Harris had additional training in Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Electrophysiology at Mt. Sinai in Milwaukee, Peripheral Vascular Disease at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Detroit and Noninvasive Cardiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

While on staff at Lapeer Regional Hospital he has held a variety of appointments including Medical Director of ICU/CCU, Medical Director of Cardiopulmonary Medicine, Medical Director of Transitional Care Unit, Vice Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff.  Dr. Harris is also on staff at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Hurley Medical Center, Genesys Regional Medical Center and Beaumont Hospital, Troy.

Dr. Harris is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology.  Along with these prestigious certifications, Dr. Harris holds numerous medical society and hospital staff memberships and has kept current throughout these many years by attending additional cardiology subspecialty training seminars and conferences.

Dr. Harris resides in Lapeer.  He is married with three children.




Majed A. Nounou, MD, FACC     

Majed A. Nounou was born and raised in Damascus, Syria, and attended medical school at Damascus University Facility of Medicine, where he earned his degree in 1997. Dr. Nounou conducted his post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute for Environmental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and did a residency of Internal Medicine at Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medical Education at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. He attended a Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation Fellowship at Columbia University College of Physician & Surgeons at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, a Cardiology Fellowship at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of California at Irvine.

Dr. Nounou is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine. He holds professional affiliations with the American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, International Atherosclerotic Society, American College of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America.

Dr. Nounou has a wife who also works in the medical field, as a pharmacist, and together they have two children. Dr. Nounou joins Cardiology Consultants of East Michigan to provide services to each of the three locations: Flint, Lapeer and Lake Orion


PROFESSIONAL STAFF

     Cardiology Consultants of East Michigan utilizes professional staff such as nurses and physician's assistants to assist our physicians in your care.  They typically round with the physicians in the hospitals and may assist in evaluations and testing in the office.  We are proud of our professional staff and they are an integral part of our practice.

Shelley Littleton, P.A.-C.

Three years after graduating from Central Michigan University and Wayne State University, Shelley joined our staff as a Physician Assistant.  She has been an integral part of hospital patient care for many years.

Patients who are in the hospital can look to Shelley to take their past medical history, assess their health problems, discuss with the doctor what the best treatment is, order any testing, and discharge the patient to their home.

Shelley's job entails closely working with the doctors of CCEM to deliver the best hospital care for our patients.

Shelly Martyniak, P.A.-C.

Recently, CCEM was lucky enough to welcome a PA to our staff with over 11 years of experience.  Shelly received her training at University of Detroit-Mercy and since then has been actively helping physicians with patient care.

With the addition of Shelly, who is a member of both AAPA and MAPA, the physicians of CCEM have yet another trusted source to help patient care be seamless and thorough.

Monica Gatica Barry, CNP

Monica is the newest addition to CCEM's professional staff.  Her experience over the past 10 years makes her a definate asset to our physicians. 

Not only is Monica a Certified Nurse Practioner, which she recieved in 2007, she has worked as an RN at not only McLaren Regional Medical Center but also at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.


All of our professional staff are a very important part of CCEM. Without them, our doctor's would not be able to give our patients the time and care they need!
